Why I Gave Up on Productivity

TRUTH: PRODUCTIVITY IS BUNK.

Okay, it might surprise you to hear me say that so lemme explain:

Productivity hacks won't help you if you don't really know what you should be working on anyway. It doesn't matter how much you streamline or become more efficient if you're still spending all that newly freed up time on the wrong things, ya know?

If you've been hanging out with me here for a while then you may've noticed a shift in the past year or so...

When I first started helping peeps with their businesses I focused a lot on how to effectively wear the many hats of solopreneurship. That meant help with systems, time management and yes, productivity hacks.

But then I noticed something...I was still hearing chatter (from both clients and fellow entrepreneur pals) about how whatever flavor-of-the-month changes in the algorithm were tanking their following/engagement. Or they weren't getting any returns on their FB ads. Or how they were spending 2 hours a day on social media but still not getting customers from it.

And that's when a lightbulb went off for me: I needed to take it back one more step. Not how to manage your time but what to actually spend it on in the first place (spoiler alert: social media ain't it).

I'd been helping people reclaim time in their business but then they were spending it on the wrong damn things anyway. Ferk!

So. I started to course correct. I started teaching my peeps what I knew worked and what was worthy of their time: investing in relationships. Bringing real human connection back to marketing. And shifting social media into a support role only (moving it from the 'Attract' step of their plan to the 'Nurture' step of their plan*).

Result? A lot less time on social media. More time on high-impact activities. Which means more customers (and yeah, more time to watch Queer Eye too if we're being honest).

*oh hey! That little asterisk wasn't just for looks, boo! If you have no idea WTH I'm talking about when I say 'attract' and 'nurture' (or, rather, you do know but you don't have a sustainable plan in place to attract in potential new customers and then nurture + convert them then listen up, muchacha!)

Need help figuring out what really deserves your time in your business? I’m here to help so let’s chat!
