5 Books to Inspire Busy Entrepreneurs
Mamas are famously short on time, am I right?! As a mother myself, I totally get it. After bedtime you just wanna pour a glass of wine, turn off your brain and get real comfy with a couple episodes of Queer Eye. But I’m about to serve you some tough love: get off the damn sofa and read. I know, I know. I hear what you’re saying. “But I don’t have TIME to read!”
The thing is, even just 10 minutes a day soaking in some words of wisdom will get you LIT UP and ready to take that next step toward pursuing your passion. These are my top 5 literary swift-kick-in-the-pants to get you moving and remind you that you are one bad ass bitch:
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert
Whether or not you consider yourself a “creative” Elizabeth Gilbert will encourage you to live a life fueled by curiosity and courage. Before you know it, you’ll be facing down your fears and pursuing your passions.
You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero
This one might as well be The Bible as far as I’m concerned. Jen Sincero writes to you like your best friend giving you tough love, practical exercises and sage advice to stop playing small and create the life you’ve been dreaming of.
The Power of Now by Ekhart Tolle
You might be thinking this one is too woo-woo for you but there’s kinda good reason this book has sold over 2 million copies worldwide. Ekhart Tolle shares practical wisdom to better understand your truest self and how living fully in the present (not obsessing over the past or fantasizing over the future) can be our greatest super power.
The Go-Giver by Bob Burg & John David Mann
I love this one because it’s such a short, easy read but with a seriously important AF principle behind it: the idea that in business, if we focus first on giving and adding value (as opposed to what we can get/how we can benefit) all the other pieces fall into place. Turns out, approaching biz with a spirit of service is a really good practice.
The 3rd Door by Alex Banayan
This guy’s story is just straight up fucking crazy. I won’t give too many spoilers here but basically he dropped out of med school, went on The Price is Right, sold everything, then traveled the world talking to the likes of Steven Spielberg and Lady Gaga about how they got where they are. The interviews are a much needed reminder that greatness takes time —and maybe most importantly— gumption. Turns out, nearly every successful person you look up to worked their ass off to make their dream a reality.
