Why the Basics are Your Friend in Marketing
I’M EXTRA SOME OF THE TIME.
I love to Electric Slide to any.damn.song (yes it's possible and yes it's as uncool as it sounds). I'll repaint an entire bedroom in less than 2 hours. I use ALL the salsas at Taco Deli and when I make macaroni and cheese, it's with 3 kinds of fancy ass cheese + tarragon bread crumbs (I'll invite ya over for dinner next time).
Sometimes it's a good thing to be over-the-top.
But other times, like in business, it pays to be basic.
In the past few years I've seen the landscape of the entrepreneurial world shift. There's LOTS of noise around sales funnels, automations, evergreen online courses, and algorithms.
I've seen fellow business owners skip right over the basics (the stuff that actually builds a sustainable biz) and jump straight into the overcomplicated dumpster fire of experts hocking the latest fad.
I say, f*ck that noise.
Isn't it exhausting? 'Cause I know a couple years ago I was tired as hell trying to figure out which trend or hack would work for me.
But know what I've come to realize, boo? Trends and hacks fizzle out or change. Plus, they're often confusing AF which sucks.
Knowing the basics is what'll serve you and your business time and time again.
And those basics? They're the fastest path to cash. But it's not sexy social media. And it doesn't involve lining Mark Zuckerberg's pockets.
The most basic, simplest ways of marketing a business are the most overlooked strategies because they require us to stop hiding behind our damn computers and start communicating directly with the people we want to serve.
